Indulge in a Barefoot Luxury Resort at Cala Mia

You probably have heard of a barefoot luxury resort, but have you experienced one? This is what Cala Mia Island Resort is all about the top-rated barefoot luxury resort in Panama. We understand our clients want to vacation in a remote and exotic destination, but they also want to be comfortable. Being able to provide exactly that has awarded us the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence for the best boutique hotel in Panama for three years in a row.

Escape from all the stresses of reality into a laid back environment in the island of Boca Brava in the Gulf of Chiriquí. Just being able to disconnect is a luxury nowadays. Walk barefoot (if you’d like) through the gardens or on the beach and allow yourself to connect with nature.

Barefoot Luxury Resort Panama – Create your own schedule

Being on vacation means being able to wake up and decide what you want to do. Barefoot luxury is all about this, the luxury of informality. At Cala Mia Island Resort you can decide what you want to do during your holiday. Pick from our tours and activities list or simply choose to lounge at the beach or pool all day.

We have created seven packages to facilitate your trip planning. Many of our guests spend their whole vacations in Panama at our barefoot luxury resort, which is why we feel it’s important to provide a complete experience. The “Island and Highlands Package” gives you the best of the province of Chiriquí combining beach with mountains. Adventure seekers will love the “Naturalist Package” that includes birdwatching and nature tours, or the “Family Adventure” that offers more activities like island picnics, snorkeling and hiking.

“Honeymoon” includes romantic details such as flowers on the bed and a chilled bottle of wine. Our “wedding” package includes celebrations such as destination weddings, vow renewals and anniversaries. The marine diversity of the Gulf of Chiriquí allow us to be a world class destination for “Diving” and “Fishing.”

Amenities and Gastronomy

Luna Azul Beach Club is the best place to spend your day lounging. This private beach has a small restaurant made from bamboo with a thatched roof. You can ask the bartender to bring you a cold beer or make you a delicious tropical cocktail. Food options include ceviche, shrimp, burgers, panini sandwiches and fresh pizzas baked in a clay oven.

Breakfast and dinner is served at Punta Sur Restaurant in a very casual yet elegant setting. Barefoot Luxury is about providing the best service and cuisine, which is why we only use fresh ingredients. Our produce comes from a small hydroponic farm in the highlands of Boquete and our meats and seafood are locally sourced. Every night there is a different dinner menu with two options of entrée, main dish and dessert. Options might include gazpacho soup, caprese salad, lobster, pork ribs, salmon, apple cobbler, brownie with ice cream, etc.

Indulge with a massage or a relaxing treatment at Cielo Spa located on its own island united by a hanging bridge. Our therapist is highly skilled to offer different types of massages like Swedish, deep tissue, hot stone or reflexology. All products are made of natural ingredients.

Partake in a yoga class or meditate at the beach or on the new yoga deck. We have mats so there is no need for you to bring anything. It is a beautiful way to start or end the day since the resort has a perfect location to see both sunrises and sunsets.

Tropical bungalows

Guests at our barefoot luxury resort in Panama will sleep in bungalows scattered throughout our gardens with views of the Pacific Ocean or of our beach cove. When Cala Mia Island Resort was originally built, it was very basic without modern comforts. We believe fully in being a sustainable resort, which is why we invested in solar energy to be able to provide guests with amenities such as hot water, air conditioning, and the Internet during their stay.

Bungalows have twin beds or king beds under thatched roofs which are typical of Panama. Beds and furniture are handmade using local wood from the island of Boca Brava. Bathrooms are quite spacious with unique circular shower areas. Floors are made of natural wood or tiles and all bungalows have an outdoor rancho with a hammock, couch, and coffee table. The villa sleeps eight and the family bungalow sleeps five. Larger groups can stay at the brand new beach house with six beds.
